Prabowo ready to visit North Korea after Seoul asks for talks
The request reportedly came during an April 1 visit in Seoul, aimed at bridging communication with Kim Jong-un.
President Prabowo Subianto said he is ready to visit North Korea after South Korean President Lee Jae-myung asked him to help open a dialogue channel with Pyongyang. Prabowo said the request was conveyed during his state visit to Seoul. In a meeting with Kadin at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, he said he would go if asked officially. According to Prabowo, that trust stems from Indonesia's free and active, nonaligned foreign policy, which has won acceptance from many sides because it does not interfere in other countries' domestic affairs. Tempo noted that Prabowo and Lee met at Cheong Wa Dae on 1 April 2026. The dialogue in question refers to efforts to bridge communication between Seoul and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
