Prabowo leads solemn vigil at Kalibata TMP for 81st RI
The midnight ceremony drew Gibran and Cabinet Merah Putih officials ahead of Aug. 17 celebrations.
President Prabowo Subianto led the National Pilgrimage Ceremony and Solemn Vigil at Taman Makam Pahlawan Kalibata in South Jakarta on Sunday night, ahead of the 81st anniversary of RI independence. Prabowo arrived at 23.39 WIB in the Maung Garuda official vehicle and was accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and AM Hendropriyono to the Monument to the Heroes. During the ceremony, the President laid a wreath, led a moment of silence, then the troop commander conducted honors for the souls of the heroes. The event ended at about 23.50 WIB. The ceremony is a regular state agenda held before Independence Day to honor the sacrifices of the heroes and uphold the spirit of unity.
