Prabowo orders review of corruption definition, Tipikor law
Yusril wants the offense broadened to cover mine under invoicing and for the rules to align with UNCAC.
President Prabowo Subianto has asked his ministers to review the definition of corruption and prepare revisions to the Anti-Corruption Law. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said the review is intended to produce a definition of corruption that fits current conditions. He cited under invoicing in the mining sector, when reported export volumes are lower than actual amounts, as conduct that harms the national economy but is not yet clearly classified as corruption. Yusril also urged alignment of the Anti-Corruption Law with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, ratified under Law No. 7 of 2006, as well as synchronization with the Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and the draft asset forfeiture bill.
