Prabowo seeks adjusted TNI recruitment rules for inland Dayak
TNI headquarters has not detailed what criteria would change, with the scheme still awaiting discussion and approval.
President Prabowo Subianto has called for adjustments to recruitment requirements for inland Dayak residents who want to join the TNI. The request was discussed at a meeting in Hambalang, Jawa Barat, on Saturday (29/8), attended by TNI Commander General Agus Subianto, the service chiefs, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. TNI spokesperson Major General Muhammad Nas said the military would follow up on the directive, but the mechanism and form of the adjustment have not been explained because they are still awaiting discussion and approval. At the same meeting, Prabowo also asked for updates on the response to the Flores earthquake, the eruption of Mount Merapi, and forest and land fires in Kalimantan and Sumatra.
