Prabowo seeks to finish Aceh law revision by 2026
The revision would also address the continuation of Aceh’s special autonomy fund, which under current rules ends in 2027.
Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said President Prabowo Subianto ordered him to coordinate with the DPR RI so the revision of Law No. 11 of 2006 on Aceh Governance is completed in 2026. Supratman said he has met with Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, and members of the Aceh DPR to discuss the changes. One main point of the revision is the continuation of the Aceh Special Autonomy Fund, which under current provisions will end in 2027 after taking effect for 20 years. The issue has surfaced amid political developments in Aceh, including a disturbance at Masjid Raya Baiturrahman in Banda Aceh on 15 August when people raised the Bendera Bulan Bintang.
