Prabowo cancels trip to ASEAN-Russia summit in Kazan on June 17
Istana said Prabowo chose to focus on domestic issues after earlier meeting Putin and ASEAN leaders on the forum's agenda.
President Prabowo Subianto has canceled plans to attend the ASEAN-Russia summit in Kazan, Russia, scheduled for June 17, 2026. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the decision was made because Prabowo wants to focus attention on a number of domestic issues. According to Prasetyo, communication with the forum's key partners was already carried out in earlier meetings. He pointed to Prabowo's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on April 13, 2026, as well as a series of talks with ASEAN leaders at the ASEAN summit in Cebu, Philippines, on May 7-8, 2026. Prasetyo added that several cooperation commitments discussed earlier had also been followed up at the technical level.
