Prabowo asks to trim regular hajj queues before 2027 review
Kemenhaj says the actual wait is now about 13-14 years, while the new administrative system standardizes it at 26 years nationwide.
President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to find ways to shorten the waiting time for regular hajj pilgrims ahead of the 2027 or 1448 Hijriah review of hajj operations. Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the instruction came after a meeting with Prabowo in Hambalang. According to Dahnil, this year's regular hajj queue is factually about 13 to 14 years, although administratively it can be recorded at up to 26 years. The ministry has also changed the quota allocation so the administrative waiting period is set at 26 years in every province. He said most prospective pilgrims now wait 10 to 12 years. Beyond the queue, Prabowo also asked the ministry to focus on service, safety and comfort for pilgrims.
