Prabowo asks PSSI to draft a roadmap to the 2030 World Cup
The government is preparing funding support, sports infrastructure, youth development and policy backing for the target.
President Prabowo Subianto asked PSSI to draw up a roadmap to the 2030 World Cup during the PSSI 2026 Ordinary Congress in Jakarta on Monday. The message was read out by PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir. Prabowo said Indonesia is worthy of aiming for a place in the tournament, but acknowledged the path would not be easy and would require hard work from many parties. He said the government was ready to support PSSI and the national team through funding, sports infrastructure development, stronger youth development, improved sports human resources, and policies that support the progress of Indonesian soccer. In his speech, Prabowo also stressed the target must be pursued jointly by clubs, academies, coaches, players, supporters, local governments, business, the media and the public.
