Police probe alleged abduction of golfer Jesslyn in Central Jakarta
A report under verification says Jesslyn may have traveled to Malaysia via Semarang a day after the incident, police said.
The Central Jakarta Metro Police are investigating a report of the alleged abduction of women’s golfer Jesslyn Wijaya Lay, which was said to have occurred while she attended her grandmother’s birthday at Saung Kita Restaurant in Mangga Besar, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, on Monday, July 13, at around 19:45 WIB. Family lawyer Andi Darti said a witness saw the victim blindfolded and taken by two large men to a black car. Jesslyn was said to have screamed for help and tried to get out, but was put back into the vehicle. Central Jakarta Metro Police criminal investigations chief Roby Heri Saputra confirmed the report had been received under number LP/B/2092/VII/2026/SPKT/POLRES METRO JAKPUS/POLDA METRO JAYA. Police are still collecting facts and evidence. The reporter also received information that still needs verification that the victim allegedly headed to Malaysia via Semarang on July 14, while her phone was detected in the Puri Jimbaran area.
