Police chief urges former JI members in Garda Satya NKRI to guard order
The appeal came during an 81st Independence Day celebration in Surakarta, with a push for food security and entrepreneurship.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo asked members of Garda Satya NKRI, a group for former members and sympathizers of Jamaah Islamiyah, to help maintain public security and order and preserve unity. He delivered the message during an 81st Independence Day thanksgiving event with the Garda Satya NKRI family in Surakarta, Central Java, on Sunday. Sigit said the spirit, discipline, courage and cohesion shown by the group can be directed into positive strength for the nation under Polri coordination. He also urged them to take productive roles beyond security matters, from strengthening family finances and food security to entrepreneurship and community social activities.
