Polda Metro Jaya arrests 729 suspects in Berantas Jaya
Police say the operation uncovered 769 cases and seized 839 pieces of evidence, including 428 motorcycles and 21 cars.
Polda Metro Jaya arrested 729 suspects in street crime and motor vehicle theft during Operasi Berantas Jaya 2026, conducted July 4-18 in its jurisdiction. Of that total, 705 were detained and 24 were not held under legal provisions. Police said the operation uncovered 769 cases.
Deputy chief Dekananto Eko Purwono said investigators seized 839 pieces of evidence, including Rp10,76 juta in cash, 11 firearms, 27 sharp weapons, 428 motorcycles, 21 cars, 150 mobile phones, 71 rounds of ammunition, 119 T-handles, and 12 airguns. A total of 62 motorcycles and 5 cars recovered from crime were also returned to their lawful owners after verification.
Director of General Crime Investigation Iman Imanuddin added that the suspects were mostly of productive age, with the 25-29 age group the largest at 219 people.
