Polda Jabar teams with Meta to hunt Bandung kidnapping suspect
Police formed cyber, general crimes and narcotics teams after investigators suspected the case may involve other offenses.
Polda Jawa Barat is working with Meta to trace the digital trail of Taufik Hidayat, a suspect in the kidnapping and assault of YTR, 29, in Kabupaten Bandung who remains at large. Jabar Police Chief Rudi Setiawan said the tracking is being done through the suspect's activity on social media. Police also formed a joint team involving the Cyber Directorate, the General Crimes Directorate and the Narcotics Directorate because investigators suspect the scope of the case is broader and the suspect may be linked to other criminal acts. Preliminary checks show Taufik was a former debt collector. Investigators are now reviewing his employment history through several companies that had been connected to him. Forensic findings also identified damage to the victim's eyes and lips, cuts on her leg and cigarette burns, which are believed to have occurred during the three-year captivity.
