Pochettino stays on as US coach through the 2030 World Cup

Mauricio Pochettino agreed to a contract extension with the US Soccer Federation that will keep him in charge of the U.S. men's national team through the 2030 World Cup. Pochettino, hired in September 2024, led the Americans to the last 16 at the 2026 World Cup before a heavy loss to Belgium ended the run. US Soccer said the new deal also expands his remit beyond the senior team, with Pochettino and his staff set to advise on the national team pathway, youth soccer, coaching education, professional league collaboration and other technical areas. Financial terms were not disclosed, though reports said he is expected to earn more than under his previous contract.
