Pochettino signs US contract extension through 2030 World Cup

What's new: The deal gives him a broader role across youth development, coaching education and league collaboration.

Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to stay on as coach of the U.S. men’s national team through the 2030 World Cup, extending a tenure that began in September 2024. US Soccer said the new agreement also expands his responsibilities beyond the senior team, with Pochettino and his staff set to advise on the national team pathway, youth soccer, coaching education, professional league collaboration and other technical areas. The extension follows months of talks and comes after the United States reached the last 16 at the 2026 World Cup before a 4-1 loss to Belgium. Financial terms were not disclosed, though reports said Pochettino is expected to receive a raise from the roughly $6 million a year he earned under his previous deal.
