PLN: 1 of 2 disrupted power plants in Java returns online

Rolling blackouts last week have been minimized since Sunday night after the unit resynchronized at 18.00 WIB.

PT PLN said the electricity system on Java Island is beginning to improve after one of two partner-owned power plants that had technical problems returned to service. PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the unit resynchronized with the Java power system on Sunday at 18.00 WIB and started supplying electricity to help strengthen reliability. The outage at the two IPP plants last week had caused a supply deficit and led to rolling blackouts in several areas. PLN is now monitoring the recovery from the load dispatch center in Cinere, West Java, while bolstering generation supply and improving governance of the primary energy supply chain. PLN also apologized for the power disruption. Earlier, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia asked PLN to prepare measured mitigation steps so similar outages do not happen again.
