Persija keeps Shin Tae-yong despite 1-year KFA ban

The ban applies only in South Korean football, so Shin can continue coaching Persija in Indonesia.

Persija Jakarta has confirmed that Shin Tae-yong will continue his duties as head coach despite the Korea Football Association imposing a one-year ban from activities in South Korean football. The punishment was handed down after Shin, while still managing Ulsan HD, slapped defender Jung Seung-hyun in 2025. Persija president Mohamad Prapanca said management respects the KFA's decision but still has full confidence in Shin. The club also asked all team members to stay focused on preparing for the Piala Presiden 2026 and Super League 2026/2027. Shin, a former head coach of the Indonesia national team, recently signed a three-season contract with Persija through 2029.
