Government sets aside Rp5 trillion for NTT quake response
BNPB still has about Rp500 billion in standby funds as the M7.7 NTT quake death toll rises to 54.
The government has set aside Rp5 trillion in ready-to-use disaster funds, including for the M7.7 earthquake that struck Nusa Tenggara Timur on 15 August. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the allocation can be increased if needs on the ground exceed the initial amount and BNPB submits an official request. In addition to the funds at the Ministry of Finance, BNPB also still has about Rp500 billion in standby funds for emergency needs. According to BNPB data as of 16 August night, the quake in Nagekeo killed 54 people, injured 199, forced 9,963 residents to evacuate, and damaged 2,403 homes. Schools, health facilities, roads, irrigation systems, places of worship, and offices were also affected in several parts of Flores.
