PAM Jaya to build 7,000 km of pipes for full Jakarta water service

The network is projected to grow from 13,000 km to 20,000 km, with full coverage targeted for 2029.

PAM Jaya is preparing to build about 7,000 kilometers of new pipeline network to expand piped water service in Jakarta to 100 percent by 2029. If the plan moves ahead, the total network length will rise from about 13,000 km to 20,000 km in the next few years. PAM Jaya Technical Director Akhmad Santika said the growing scale of the project requires tighter field supervision and stricter workplace safety measures. PAM Jaya is also developing a system to monitor field work and will place partner identities on project fences and barriers so the party responsible for each site is clear. According to PAM Jaya Strategy and Business Director Anugrah Esa, the work also faces challenges because some of Jakarta's old pipelines are more than 100 years old.
