KM Nurul Salsa SAR operation ends; 14 still missing in Selayar

Passenger data was revised to 76, with 58 rescued and 4 dead; the search can resume if new clues emerge.

The SAR operation for the KM Nurul Salsa accident in waters off Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi, was officially closed on the 10th day of the search. Basarnas Makassar said the entire search area had been swept in line with the operation plan, but 14 victims had not been found. Passenger data were also corrected after validation with the local government, police and KSOP: the total was set at 76 people, not 78 as in the initial report. Of that number, 58 people were found alive and 4 died. Earlier, the South Sulawesi Police DVI team identified two bodies as Hasriyati, 44, and Bau Intang, 52. Basarnas said the operation could be reopened if there is new information or a new victim is found, while personnel involved were returned to their respective units.
