Norway target Round of 32 berth against Senegal in New Jersey

A win would move Norway closer to the knockout stage after they opened Group I with a 4-1 victory over Iraq.

Norway could secure a place in the 2026 World Cup Round of 32 when it meets Senegal in its second Group I match at New York/New Jersey Stadium on Tuesday morning local time. Stale Solbakken's side arrives after a 4-1 opening win over Iraq, when Erling Haaland scored twice. Haaland, who had previously scored 16 goals in eight qualifying matches, remains the focal point alongside Martin Odegaard, Alexander Sorloth, Sander Berge, and Antonio Nusa. Senegal, meanwhile, is under pressure after losing its first match. Solbakken said Senegal remains dangerous because of its many fast players and its strength in transition, making discipline and organization key if Norway is to keep its knockout-stage hopes alive.
