ISS crew sheltered in SpaceX capsule after new air leak alert

What's new: NASA lifted the precautionary shelter order about two hours later as Russian cosmonauts inspected and sealed leak sites.

Five astronauts aboard the International Space Station briefly moved into a docked SpaceX Dragon capsule on June 5 after a fresh air leak was detected in a Russian transfer chamber, triggering a precautionary evacuation alert. NASA later cleared the crew to return to normal operations. Roscosmos said cosmonauts found two possible leak points in the chamber, sealed one with a two-component compound and prepared repairs on the second. The troubled section has suffered cracks and leaks for years, and NASA and Roscosmos have been working to identify the cause while relying on periodic repair efforts. The aging station is scheduled for retirement in 2030.
