MUI to hold July 26 Muslim Congress on graft, LGBTQ
87 Islamic organizations are set to attend the Bidakara forum, which Prabowo Subianto will open and that also covers mining policy.
The Indonesian Ulema Council will hold the VIII Indonesian Muslim Congress for three days starting July 26, 2026, at Hotel Bidakara in Jakarta. MUI Deputy Chairman Marsudi Syuhud said the forum will bring together 87 Islamic organizations under the MUI umbrella to formulate ideas for national development. President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to open the congress on July 24 at around 16.00, after which the agenda will continue with plenary sessions. Beyond consolidating the organizations, the congress will discuss anti-corruption efforts, including a proposal for the death penalty for corrupters, mining management and LGBTQ issues. Marsudi also said MUI is preparing draft regulations and an academic paper for several recommendations to be discussed at the forum.
