MSCI drops CPIN and GOTO from main index effective Sept. 1

The move could shift foreign fund flows into Indonesian stocks, while nine names also exit MSCI’s small-cap index.

MSCI removed PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk (CPIN) and PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) from the MSCI Global Standard Index in its August 2026 review. The change takes effect at the close of trading on Aug. 31 and will be effective Sept. 1, 2026. No Indonesian stocks were added to the main index in this period. In the MSCI Global Small Cap Index, CPIN was added, while nine stocks were removed: Bank Jago (ARTO), Bukalapak (BUKA), Surya Esa Perkasa (ESSA), MD Entertainment (FILM), Medikaloka Hermina (HEAL), MNC Tourism Indonesia (KPIG), Raharja Energi Cepu (RATU), Semen Indonesia (SMGR), and Transcoal Pacific (TCPI). After the changes, nine Indonesian stocks remain in the MSCI main index. Market participants closely watch MSCI’s periodic reviews because they can shift foreign fund flows into Indonesia’s capital market.
