Mourinho returns to Camp Nou with Madrid 6 points behind Barcelona
What's next: Sunday’s clásico could cut Barcelona’s lead and test Madrid’s fast start under a coach only three months into the job.
Jose Mourinho heads back to Camp Nou on Sunday as his Real Madrid side tries to dent Barcelona’s early control of La Liga. Madrid sits third, six points behind Hansi Flick’s team, with Mourinho still in the opening months of a return that has revived one of the rivalry’s most combustible figures. Kylian Mbappe has scored 12 goals in 12 appearances for Madrid, while Barcelona will again lean on Lamine Yamal after midweek defensive problems against Paris Saint-Germain. Mourinho cast the match as a contest apart from normal league form, while Flick called it the sport’s biggest fixture and warned his players against complacency. Vinicius Jr. will miss the game through suspension.
