Miura scores at 59 as Fukushima United wins 7-0
His first competitive goal since November 2022 came in his 42nd professional season, extending his record-setting career.
Kazuyoshi Miura scored at age 59 as Fukushima United routed Iwaki Furukawa 7-0 in the Emperor's Cup on Saturday. The striker, nicknamed "King Kazu," scored in the 52nd minute to put Fukushima ahead 5-0. It was his first competitive goal since November 2022, when he was still with Suzuka PG, now known as Atletico Suzuka, against FC Osaka. Miura, known as the world's oldest professional footballer, began his career with Santos in 1986 and has also played in Italy, Croatia and Australia. This season is the 42nd of his career after his loan from Yokohama FC to Fukushima was extended until June 2027.
