Missing Malaysian hiker found alive after 14 days in Perak jungle

What's new: The 49-year-old survived on river water, dew and water from pitcher plants before villagers found her near Lubuk Gaharu.

A Malaysian hiker who went missing during a trek in Perak was found alive Saturday after nearly two weeks in the jungle, where she said she survived without food. Jaslinda Saludin, 49, had been reported missing on May 24 after becoming separated from a group of 14 hikers and two mountain guides on an expedition that began a day earlier. Villagers from the Orang Asli settlement of Lubuk Gaharu found her near a river and brought her to the village headman’s house before she was taken to Tapah Hospital. Perak fire officials said she was in stable condition with minor injuries after falls and insect bites. Jaslinda said she drank dark water, river water, dew and water from pitcher plants during the ordeal.
