Polkam chief urges local governments to form hoax-fighting teams
Djamari Chaniago urged local governments and forkopimda to fill digital channels first, to prevent an information vacuum.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago urged regional governments to serve as the front line against hoaxes and disinformation in digital spaces. During a working visit to Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Saturday, he encouraged local governments and the regional leadership coordination forum to strengthen public information management. Djamari also proposed creating a forum in each region to monitor emerging issues and manage information dynamics, involving local governments, TNI, Polri, and other related parties. He said an information vacuum can be exploited by others to spread narratives that worsen the situation. He said regional governments should therefore move early with responses that are quick, accurate and fact-based to maintain stability and public trust.
