Mendagri urges local governments to speed MPPs, digitize services

Regions are also urged to centralize services and make tax and fee payments easier to boost locally generated revenue.

Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian urged local governments to accelerate the development of Mal Pelayanan Publik (MPP) and the digitalization of services so citizens' affairs are easier, faster and more transparent. At the launch of the National Public Service Movement at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform office in Jakarta on Friday (24/7), Tito said the quality of public service supports national resilience alongside a strong military, security apparatus and intelligence services. He said Indonesia's challenges stem from its archipelagic geography, large population and diverse regions, so services cannot rely only on the integrity of officials without a well-ordered system. Tito also said simplifying services and making tax and retribution payments easier could increase locally generated revenue. At the event, Tito, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini, and Deputy Chairman of the Ombudsman Rahmadi Indra Tektona signed a joint circular.
