MBG partners split over suspending service during school break

GAPEMBI rejects the BGN circular, citing daily Rp6 juta kitchen incentives, while AMMSI backs the move as a cost-saving step.

The debate erupted after Badan Gizi Nasional issued Circular Letter No. 12 of 2026, which temporarily halted distribution of the Makan Bergizi Gratis program during the school break. The June 17 policy also means Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi will not receive the daily Rp6 juta incentive during the pause. Gabungan Pengusaha Makan Bergizi Indonesia opposed the rule. Its chairman, Alven Stony, said stopping the program would hit MBG kitchen operations, disrupt volunteer pay, and squeeze suppliers of farm and livestock products that have been providing ingredients. On the other hand, Asosiasi Mitra Makan Bergizi Gratis Seluruh Indonesia backed the policy. AMMSI chairman, Rizky Herdianto, said the temporary suspension during school holidays is in line with state spending efficiency and tighter governance of SPPG. AMMSI also asked that kitchens forced to operate outside the official mechanism be shut down so they do not waste the APBN.
