Max Miller stays on Ohio ballot after GOP replacement deadline lapses

Rep. Max Miller will remain the Republican nominee in Ohio’s 7th Congressional District after the deadline to replace him on the November ballot passed. Under Ohio law, party officials had until Monday at 4 p.m. to certify a new nominee, but they needed at least two days’ notice to hold a meeting, meaning Miller would have had to withdraw by Saturday. He did not. Miller has faced growing pressure from fellow Republicans to end his campaign after his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, accused him of physically abusing her and their young daughter. Miller has denied the allegations. The House Ethics Committee opened an investigation last week, and Miller is set to face Democrat Brian Poindexter as Republicans defend a narrow House majority.
