Man rescued from California vault toilet after chasing dropped sunglasses

What's new: He spent about 15 minutes in the sewage tank at Camp Edison before being decontaminated and walking away unharmed.

A man was pulled from the holding tank of a vault toilet at Camp Edison in Shaver Lake, California, after he fell in while trying to recover sunglasses he had dropped inside. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said deputies and firefighters responded June 20 to a report of a person trapped in the tank beneath the waterless restroom. Rescuers used a Spanish translator to communicate with the man, who had fallen several feet into a chemical solution and sewage. He spent about 10 to 15 minutes in the tank before crews got him out. Officials said he then went through a decontamination process because of exposure to urine, fecal matter and chemicals, and was able to leave without injuries.
