Malaysia's anti-graft agency probes pension fund loss in eFishery

KWAP said its investment totaled RM163,4 million and it is pursuing legal and recovery steps to limit losses.

Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Commission has opened an investigation into losses from the state pension fund's investment in eFishery, the Indonesian aquaculture startup that collapsed after financial statement manipulation was exposed. MACC chief commissioner Abdul Halim Aman said a team was formed on 17 July to review the case, while details on the targets of the probe have not been released. KWAP said it invested RM163,4 million for a 2,51 percent stake in eFishery and is now pursuing all available channels to maximize recovery of the investment. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously told parliament that the civil servants' pension fund was also affected. In Indonesia, eFishery founder Gibran Huzaifah has been sentenced to nine years in prison in a case related to financial manipulation and money laundering.
