Malaysia police target KLIA officer in 26 kg drug case
Investigators have identified a screening officer in his 30s and say an arrest remains possible as the probe widens.
The Royal Malaysia Police has identified a screening officer at Kuala Lumpur International Airport suspected of being linked to the failure to stop Malaysia Airlines pilot Mohd Saufi bin Othman from bringing 26 kilograms of narcotics into Indonesia. PDRM Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Hussein Omar Khan said the officer, in his 30s, will be called in to assist the investigation and could be arrested if needed. Police said screening at KLIA goes through four stages, but baggage can pass through directly if the initial scan does not show any suspicious signs. The case surfaced after customs at Soekarno-Hatta Airport found 14 ecstasy packs containing more than 70.000 pills in MSO's suitcase and 4 grams of methamphetamine in his hand luggage.
