MA ruling on Gibran equivalency letter spurs DPR push
PDIP and PKB have begun cross-party talks, while Gerindra wants Kemendikdasmen and KPU to explain the ruling's effect.
The Supreme Court ruling that annulled Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's high school equivalency certificate has triggered political maneuvering in the DPR. PDIP said demands that Gibran resign could not be ignored and acknowledged the party would need backing from other factions if it wants to pursue an inquiry right. PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto said the party holds only 110 seats and has already opened dialogue with other parties. On the other side, PKB faction leaders said the MA ruling, together with earlier Constitutional Court considerations, provides a substantive basis for determining parliament's political steps. Meanwhile, Gerindra asked Kemendikdasmen and KPU to provide a public explanation of the follow-up to cassation ruling number 742 K/TUN/2026 and its impact on Gibran's candidacy administration in the 2024 presidential election.
