Londerang wildfire in Jambi enters third day, 9 hectares burned
Joint crews have contained the blaze with ground firebreaks and water bombing, but smoke was still rising Saturday night.
The forest and land fire in the Hutan Lindung Gambut Londerang in Tanjung Jabung Timur, Jambi, continued into its third day on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The blaze, first detected on Thursday, August 27, has scorched about nine hectares. A joint team from Manggala Agni Kementerian Kehutanan, a BNPB water-bombing helicopter, TNI, and personnel from an industrial timber plantation company near the site carried out containment and extinguishing efforts from the ground and air. According to an ANTARA photo caption, the effort had localized the fire, but smoke was still seen rising as of Saturday night. The fire is in a protected peat area that can hold embers below the surface.
