Le Pen opens 15-point lead in French 2027 election poll

What's new: The National Rally candidate gained 3 points after an appeals court cut her election ban to 15 months, already served.

Marine Le Pen widened her lead in a new French presidential poll after an appeals court ruling restored her ability to run in 2027. The Elabe survey for BFM TV and La Tribune Dimanche put the National Rally candidate at 34% to 35.5% in the first round, up 3 points from March. Former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe trailed on as much as 19% across the scenarios tested, while Jean-Luc Melenchon and Gabriel Attal ranked behind. The poll also showed Le Pen beating each of them in a runoff. Le Pen entered the race after the Paris court of appeals upheld her conviction for embezzling European Union funds but shortened her ban from seeking office from five years to 15 months.
