Lampung-1 Launches from Shandong to Support AI Farming

Lampung provincial officials will process satellite data with BRIN to map land, crop conditions and estimate cassava output.

The Lampung-1 hyperspectral satellite was launched into orbit from Shandong, China, to support data-driven development in Lampung, with agriculture as the initial priority. The satellite was carried by a Smart Dragon-3 rocket and is part of the Lampung-Shandong sister province partnership established since 2025. Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal witnessed the launch with delegations from both provinces, STAR.VISION Aerospace and international partners. In Indonesia, the satellite data will be processed with BRIN through calibration, quality validation, analysis and conversion into information for planning and development reviews. Initial uses include land mapping, monitoring crop conditions, identifying water shortages, early detection of crop disturbances and estimating production potential, including for cassava.
