KPK drops appeal of Noel sentence in K3 bribery case

As a result, the convictions of 11 defendants are final, including Noel’s 4.5-year prison term and Rp3,435 billion payment order.

KPK has decided not to appeal the verdict in the bribery and gratuities case over the handling of occupational safety and health, or K3, certificates at the Ministry of Manpower. The decision makes the ruling against former Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, also known as Noel, and 10 other defendants final and binding. Noel was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, a Rp200 million fine or 90 days in jail, and an order to pay Rp3,435 billion in restitution. In the same case, Irvian Bobby Mahendro was sentenced to 6 years, Hery Sutanto to 6.5 years, and Fahrurozi to 4 years. KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the agency accepted the judges’ full considerations, while all defendants also chose not to challenge the ruling.
