KPAI urges family support after deadly bullying in Pemalang

KPAI also wants the parents of two child suspects to meet the victim's family, while both are placed at LPKS Antasena Magelang for six months.

The Indonesian Child Protection Commission asked the Pemalang regional government to immediately provide comprehensive psychosocial support to the family of A, a 7-year-old elementary school student who died after allegedly being bullied by older students. KPAI said the family, including the victim's siblings, has not received adequate support. The body also urged counseling for the parents of the two children designated as children in conflict with the law, and asked them to meet the victim's family to convey an apology with the local government's assistance. According to KPAI, the incident at school during effective class hours points to negligence by the school, weak teacher supervision, inadequate facilities and the absence of a supervision SOP. The two child offenders will be placed at LPKS Antasena Magelang for six months for social rehabilitation.
