KP2MI, BPJS Kesehatan integrate JKN for migrant workers

The deal covers active membership, temporary suspension, predeparture care and coverage when PMI return home.

The Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers signed a memorandum of understanding with BPJS Kesehatan to expand access to the National Health Insurance program, Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional, for prospective migrant workers and Indonesian migrant workers. The cooperation covers JKN outreach, stronger active membership, participant data collection, temporary suspension mechanisms, and guaranteed health services before departure and after return. Minister P2MI Mukhtarudin said the scheme is intended to keep health protection continuous throughout the migration cycle. He also said migrant-worker remittances in 2025 reached about Rp288 trillion, or 11 percent of national foreign-exchange reserves. The same day, the Ministry of P2MI also signed an agreement with the Ministry of Social Affairs on social welfare coordination, safe migration outreach, human resource capacity building, and data exchange.
