Kosovo Parliament halts after MP throws eggs at PM Albin Kurti

What's new: The disruption hit as Kurti sought more time to name a speaker candidate, deepening a deadlock that could force another election.

Kosovo's Parliament suspended its session Saturday after opposition lawmaker Time Kadrijaj threw eggs at acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti during a plenary debate. The clash broke out after Kurti asked for more time to negotiate with other parties before proposing a candidate for speaker following the June snap election. Lawmakers and police officers moved in as at least four eggs were hurled toward Kurti. The incident underscored a broader political impasse: Kurti's Vetevendosje won 58 of Parliament's 120 seats, leaving it short of a governing majority and without the two-thirds backing needed to elect a president. No new parliamentary session had been set.
