Komnas HAM is examining a complaint over alleged sexual violence against a casual laborer with deafness and speech impairment at palm oil company PT USU in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra. Komnas HAM chair Anis Hidayah said the victim, an informal worker without a written contract, was allegedly sexually assaulted in November 2025. The report was filed with Polres Mandailing Natal two days after the incident, but handling of the case was considered slow. Komnas HAM is also investigating alleged intimidation against the victim and her family. Beyond the legal process, the body noted that the victim has not received a safe house from UPTD PPA or clinical psychological services. After reporting the case, she was said to no longer be employed. Koalisi Buruh Sawit and Serbundo are calling for the restoration of the victim's rights and stronger protection systems for women at companies.
