Komisi III targets Asset Forfeiture Bill passage by Dec. 2026

DPR plans 2-3 public hearings a week, but the bill is expected to take longer because Indonesia has no prior model for it.

Komisi III DPR is targeting passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill before December 2026, or at the latest within two legislative sessions. Komisi III chairman Habiburokhman said the review will be accelerated during the 2026-2027 first session, while public hearings are opened to gather input from the public. He said the hearings can be held two to three times a week because many community groups have applied to take part. Habiburokhman said the bill will take longer to discuss than the KUHAP revision and the Polri law because the asset forfeiture draft introduces a concept that is completely new in Indonesia. Earlier, Deputy Speaker Saan Mustopa also said the bill remains a priority in Prolegnas 2026 and is being pushed to be completed this year.
