KLH seals and sues illegal B3 waste processor in Tangerang
PT Beringin Petroleum Energy has been ordered to halt operations and faces possible criminal, civil and administrative penalties.
The Ministry of Environment has sealed and is preparing legal action against PT Beringin Petroleum Energy, a used-oil B3 waste processing company in Panongan District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. Environment Law Enforcement Deputy Rizal Irawan said the company processed used oil into Chemical Diesel Oil without a formal permit and was suspected of polluting air, water and soil. A field inspection found two chimneys without air-pollution control devices, allowing combustion emissions to be released directly into the environment. The company was said to have stopped operating during the COVID-19 pandemic, then resumed operations in 2022 through 2026. The ministry said the activity must be stopped and is preparing criminal, civil, environmental dispute and administrative enforcement under Law 32/2009.
