KKP targets 15,000 hectares of Aceh ponds restored by end-2026

5,200 hectares are targeted to be back in operation by September, while 694 hectares have already been restocked.

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is targeting 15,000 hectares of fishponds in Aceh to return to operation by the end of 2026 after severe flooding at the end of November 2025. In the first phase, about 5,200 hectares are targeted to be active again by September 2026 at the latest. KKP Secretary General Andy Artha said the rehabilitation will be accompanied by the distribution of seed and feed so farmers can quickly resume cultivation. So far, 694 hectares of ponds have returned to operation through the release of shrimp, milkfish, snapper and saline tilapia seed. KKP had earlier recorded about 30,000 hectares of ponds in 16 regencies and cities affected, with the worst damage in Aceh Utara, Bireuen and Aceh Tamiang. To speed recovery, KKP has also sent 12 excavators to Aceh, Sumatera Utara and Sumatera Barat.
