King Charles III quoted a hadith in Arabic during a state banquet at Windsor Castle to welcome Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik on Tuesday (20/10). Before about 160 guests, Charles praised Oman’s character, its spirit of tolerance and Muscat’s diplomatic role in the Middle East. He also highlighted Oman’s position as a trusted mediator in regional conflicts, including efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran and to safeguard strategic shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. The three-day state visit is described as the first by an Sultan of Oman to England in more than four decades. In the next part of the itinerary, Sultan Haitham is scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to discuss regional security, trade and investment opportunities.
