Kemenpora seeks removal of Hamka after Gorontalo graft charge
The request to the President was filed on August 13, and Hamka was also proposed for temporary suspension as a civil servant.
Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga has proposed removing Hamka Hendra Noer from his post as Expert Staff for Bureaucratic Transformation and Governance after he was named a suspect in an alleged corruption case in Gorontalo. Kemenpora Secretary Suyadi Pawiro said Menpora Erick Thohir sent the request to the President on 13 August 2026. Kemenpora also proposed that Hamka be temporarily suspended as a civil servant. The case handled by the Gorontalo High Prosecutor's Office concerns the procurement of a Command Centre Video Wall at the Gorontalo provincial government in 2022, when Hamka served as acting governor of Gorontalo. Kemenpora stressed the case was not related to the ministry's activities or budget.
