Kemenhub widens ODOL enforcement to ports, starts trial at Tanjung Perak

The move supports a 2027 zero ODOL target and will be folded into talks on revising the Traffic Law.

The Ministry of Transportation is expanding enforcement against over dimension over loading (ODOL) vehicles to port areas, starting with a trial at Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said the integrated oversight is aimed at reducing the risk of accidents across road, sea and ferry transport. In East Java, the effort is also being reinforced through vehicle data integration, monitoring at Unit Pelaksana Penimbangan Kendaraan Bermotor stations, and the use of weigh in motion, automatic number plate recognition and ETLE Hub on strategic logistics corridors. Kemenhub has also asked Pelni, Pelindo and ASDP Indonesia Ferry to tighten oversight of freight vehicles at ports. The government is targeting zero ODOL by 2027, while the stronger regulations will be included in discussions on amending Law No. 22/2009.
