Kemendagri speeds biometric data integration for social aid

Biak Numfor is now a priority for e-government expansion before Aug. 17 after a Banyuwangi trial found recipient data needed updating.

The Home Affairs Ministry is accelerating the integration of the electronic-based government system with biometric population data to improve the targeting of social assistance. Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian said the update is focused on deciles 1 through 4 so aid recipients can be identified more accurately. In Biak Numfor, Papua, the government is preparing to expand e-government implementation before Aug. 17. Tito said a trial matching Dukcapil data in Banyuwangi showed some recipient records no longer matched current conditions and needed correction. Commission II of the House of Representatives also said population administration and data integration are the foundation for ensuring social protection programs do not miss their targets.
