Kejagung keeps chasing Eddy Tansil assets, seizes Rp51.6 billion

Kejaksaan Agung has continued tracing assets belonging to Eddy Tansil, the convicted corruption defendant in the Bank Bapindo credit fraud who escaped from LP Cipinang on May 4, 1996. The Kejagung Asset Recovery Agency said the value of assets tied to Eddy that have been secured is still only around Rp51.6 billion, while his replacement payment obligation is Rp500 billion. Agency chief Kuntandi said prosecutors are still examining other assets believed to remain under Eddy's control to seize and secure them. Kejagung spokesman Anang Supriatna also said efforts to locate Eddy are continuing but have not produced results, including after information checks through family members. Eddy was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a case involving the embezzlement of US$565 million and was also ordered to pay state losses.
